The D’mba headdress of the Baga people of Guinea West Africa was first recognized and recorded by Europeans in 1886, yet definitive understanding of D'mba remains elusive.[i] There are several reasons for the enigma surrounding D’mba’s meaning and function. First, the Europeans that initially encountered her relied on the Susu people of the region to name and describe her. Colleen, if I haven't said it before, I want to tell you how glad I am that you are in The Twilight Zone and Encountering the Numinous. I facilitate these groups and invite you to share your ideas and interests with us!

Printing as I type. Bonnie's suggestion was a good one to possibly grab more people.

I'll read and reflect back. Thanks again.

The mask I have held as most important to me was a mask by a shaman in given in Costa Rica. Their tribe is dying along with their culture's living stories, now only explained in books. I will read the article with great interest.

I'll give it to you.

Life is all theatre/ritual and its magic (meaning of the mask). Masks also make more conscious the fact that we all project our inner vision upon the outer object. Masks just help increase that energy. What say you?

Hi Colleen - it must have been my doppelganger in VT! - That is one state I have never been to yet, but hope to one day soon! If I sound familiar, perhaps we've met elsewhere. This really is a small community of people who are passionate about Jung and Depth Psych.

Welcome Colleen,

I am quickly connected in that I have a selection of drums with which I periodically use in meditation. Love the picture as well. I'm going to look fmore deeply into the website after I get over my jet lag. Also happy to see your presence in several groups already!!!

Hi Colleen. So happy you've joined the Alliance, and especially that you've come through our relationship with Assisi Institute. Welcome!

What an amazing web site you have! I hope you'll list your events here in the community so others can at least fantasize about attending one. The dancing and drumming looks incredible.
