Reading your muse of the moon essay. terrific. also read some of your prose and poetry in Jung Journal some time ago. I enjoy some of your poetry though we come from very different backgrounds. I like Bly allot but also recognize he's got a bit of wind bag much like myself. I suppose I big ego goes with being from the "Land of 10,000 Lakes". I always dug his pot belly and colorful vests that he wore. He's got some heart and so do you. Why was I thinking about John Quintana this morning? Quintana, that's Basque. Quintana after spending his childhood years on a ranch in Oregon ( much like I did) , became infatuated with riding bulls, and worked the rodeo circuit in the US until he became world bull-riding champion in 1972. My Uncle ( 15 years older) was very fond of Quintana and his family. As our family ( Bastian, could be part French/Spanish) had employed a number Basque sheepherders over the years. My Uncle from the Basque sheepherders to say , " no sabe el burro" which in cowboy meant ...." not a fucken clue ". I find myself saying it each time I see my butcher who is also half Basque and Argentinean. enjoy your poetry...Jeffery J, Rahn
Welcome Naomi. So glad you've joined us. Forgive the sort of formal welcome message below, but it will also give you an idea of what's going on here--including your own upcoming Book Club in July!....See you there!
There are currently over 1400 members here from all over the world. I hope as you explore the community a bit you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from many walks of life--artists, writers, doctors, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.
On that note, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. When you're ready to jump in, please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to someone else's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like.
Also, if you have time, you may want to consider joining the online book club—There's a new author each month, and you can jump in at anytime and participate at whatever level you wish. The Book Club is all done via writing in an open forum, so you can read all the comments that have gone on so far. In June we are featuring an anthology with an ecopsychological bent: "ReBearths: Conversations with a World Ensouled" with Dr. Craig Chalquist and you can join at anytime. Even if you don't have the book, you may benefit from the discussion. In July, Jungian analysts Patricia Damery and Naomi Lowinsky will co-tend the group with their new anthology "Marked by Fire: Stories of the Jungian Way". Here are the details for that: http://www.depthinsights.com/pages/book_club/book_club_jul2012_depthpsych.html
