RESTATING JUNG

I enjoy and make use of a great many of the ideas of Carl G Jung. And I cannot confidently say whether the current Jungian ideas I have issues with are ideas Jung would have espoused, or merely the interpretation of his ideas by other people. But, I wish to raise some issues I have with views expressed by a number of people I know who identify themselves as Jungians. I do because I see how things relating to the conscious existence of humans can so easily be muddled and obscured by our…See More

The Problem of Nietzsche’s Antichrist

The problem of Nietzsche’s AntichristJohn BrusseauNietzsche’s error is in thinking that a morality derived from the herd instinct is the origin of self-destruction in mankind, rather than the morality derived from the fear driving our instincts (any instinct, including the herd instinct). Morality conceived in our…See More

The Kennedy Assassination Mythos

THE KENNEDY ASSASSINATION MYTHOSThis paper does not intend to deal with the issue of what actually happened to President John F. Kennedy. Instead it seeks to focus upon its psychological value to American society. So, in referring to the Kennedy assassination mythos, I am not attempting to state that I think one theory or another is only a myth, but rather am pointing out the psychological meaning that event holds for Americans. A myth is an unconsciously generated idea, and is thus capable of…See More

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL RESPONSES TO POLITICAL ELECTIONS

The Psychological Responses to Political ElectionsEvery election cycle stirs up the same set of emotional responses in us. We feel fear and hope, outrage and comfort. Yet we understand so little about the real origins of our politically triggered emotional responses. I would like to clear that rather stale air left to hover like a ghost in our consciousness after this most recent election. I would like to unveil the wonderful psychological underpinnings of our emotional reaction to politics,…See More
