Arrival: How the Feminine Saves the World

Life in the 21st century is challenging for all of us. We are living in a globally interdependent world, where time has accelerated, learning challenges are constant, and it is difficult to keep up with the pace of change and not feel overwhelmed. Finding Yourself in the New Tribalism

Neotribalism is a sociological term that describes the way many countries are splintering apart in response to a global society in which it is difficult to find our individual identities with so much coming at us to choose from in terms of lifestyle, values, and beliefs. Ancient ethnic and racial identities are re-emerging…See More

The Secret to Being Real, Successful, and Happy

In Texas, where I grew up, we had an expression—“all hat and no cattle”—that summed up a certain kind person. The expression came from seeing people wearing fancy western outfits who had no idea the hard work or long hours required to run, or work in, a cattle ranch. And, they would not have been able to rope a steer…See More

Activating Your Soul’s Erotic GPS

Have you ever wished you had the equivalent of a map, handbook, or GPS that would help you know what to do and where to go to be happy? Or, have you ever felt envious of those who always seemed to know what decision to make to enhance their personal fulfillment? And, have you ever fallen in love with a person, a place, a home, a field of study, a potential new job, a cause, a spiritual path, or even a product of some sort and then felt horribly disappointed when you faced its reality? I know I…See More

The GOP Convention: Captured in an Innocent Trance

I did not want to face the truth about the archetypal story of the Republican convention, as I was hoping for better. However, it is clear to me that, overall, the convention was embodying an Innocent trance. The Innocent as an archetype has the virtues of a spontaneous, happy child, and when in positive and conscious form is optimistic and idealistic. We could see a bit of this latter aspect in the evocation of the image of America as “a shining city on a hill” that beckons others to us. And,…See More

Hillary’s Archetypal Challenges—And Ours

By Carol S. Pearson Hillary Clinton has major archetypal advantages and faces equally major challenges, similar to ones we all confront in figuring out how to link our strengths with the needs of a time and place. I’m sharing this analysis of her archetypes as a model for what any of us can do to be effective in the environments we must deal with. Strengths: Hillary’s Ruler[1] archetype strengths are important to the role of a President: her knowledge of the…See More

The American Trickster & Our National Conversation

When problems seem overwhelming, the Trickster archetype often is called for. I’ve long been fascinated by its potential for liberation or con artistry. In fact, my doctoral dissertation looked at Trickster figures in books like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Catch-22, and Invisible Man. Dionysus, in my new book, Persephone Rising, is one also. This blog is triggered by Donald Trump’s candidacy, but it actually is about much more. All the attention on him suggests to me that the Trickster…See More

Hi Carol. Welcome to the Alliance! I'm so glad you've joined us here. After seeing how wonderfully receptive the Assisi community was to your talk when we met in September, I'm certain you will feel right at home here as well. I'd love to generate some discussion or a group around business and corporate applications for depth psychology, so maybe that will happen one day soon.

Meanwhile, as you may know, we currently have over 2800 members from all over the world. I hope as you explore the community a bit you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from many walks of life--artists, writers, doctors, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.

We recommend that to get started, you personalize your profile photo by going to your "My page" and rolling your cursor over the default C.G. Jung image. That will give you the option to switch it out. As well, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. Please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to another member's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like.

There are a number of activities at the alliance such as the replay of "Mythic Activism" with Dr. Craig Chalquist or the Recent Audio Interview with author Ariane Page on Revelations from Brain Research & Systems Science in the Search for Happiness. Check out our vast video archive on a variety of topics and find events or post your own if you have one. You can also weigh in on the weekly depth discussions by clicking the image and quote at the top of the home page. Above all, get involved. Ask questions, post responses, and contact us if you want to offer a teleseminar or webinar for the community.

If you need detailed help getting started and navigating the site, you’ll find tips and pointers at http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! I look forward to seeing you around the community.
