"Hi Ruth...yes! commonly we humans can confuse the "map" with the territory.  And i have noticed a prevailing proclivity (with the uninitiated) - a desire to pin things down and "make sense" of things in dreamworld that it is  like dragging the uncs…"

"Hi Kay
Thanks for asking - it is a great reminder to myself that moving to interpret dreams can as Bosnak says "act as an astringent" quickly drying them up to possibility, essentially closing off the dream portal from the essence of what is…"

  • Hi Hilary. I'd like to add my welcome to Ed's. Bill Plotkin was the first author I ever read that introduced me to depth psychology--and my cohort mate from Pacifica, Carol, has been heavily involved with AVI for a few years.

Meanwhile, hopefully, you've had a chance to explore the online community a bit and are finding a dynamic group of likeminded people who are all fascinated by the field of depth psychology. Our members come from many walks of life--artists, writers, doctors, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.

On that note, I hope you're finding opportunities to engage as you browse the vast content and interact with others. You may want to consider joining the online book club if you haven’t already—There's a new author each month, and you can jump in at anytime and participate at whatever level you wish. Even if you don't have the book for this month, you can read all the comments that have gone on so far and get a feel for the story--or Feb. 1 will bring a wonderful new book from Jungian Analyst Erel Shalit as well as a special online study group on Astrology.

It looks like you're doing just fine, but in case you need detailed help navigating the site, please use the following link-- http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site --and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! I look forward to seeing you around the community~Bonnie Bright, Founder
