Dr Brent Potter, PhD, PhD replied to Craig Chalquist, PhD's discussion What is depth? in Alliance Admin Board

Dr Brent Potter, PhD, PhD replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion Topics and Process for Discussion at Saturday's Webinar Panel in Alliance Admin Board
"Wonderfully said, James! Yes, and I hope I pointed out that it wasn't across the board -- that itself would be a fundamentalist statement haha -- and that it doesn't only apply to the Jungians. I agree with what you're saying and especially…"

Dr Brent Potter, PhD, PhD replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion Topics and Process for Discussion at Saturday's Webinar Panel in Alliance Admin Board
"Thanks James. It's struck me that a lot of Jungian psychology -- and it's certainly not limited to Jungian psychology -- tends to just do the 'first half of life' stuff over and over again, basically failing to mature past it. A word for doing the…"

Dr Brent Potter, PhD, PhD replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion Topics and Process for Discussion at Saturday's Webinar Panel in Alliance Admin Board
"My vote is for depth psychology "on the streets" or in action...presently and moving into the future.
Also, I have an ongoing curiosity -- somewhat related -- on what it'd look like if Jungian psychology itself moved into the second half of life…"

"In no particular order:
Estes,
Bosnak,

Side note: Roughly a year ago I was in dialogue with Moore concerning conference speaking and he's expensive. Also, I think it's wise to get speakers from the area. "

I am, very much, looking forward to connecting with you and other esteemed colleagues in community!  The space looks both enthralling & enchanting from first blush, Dr. Potter.   What an amazingly warm welcome indeed.  Pax et bonum, Alan

  • thanks so much for the warm welcome, Brent. I look forward to learning more about this comprehensive site. I'm also eager to engage and learn from others asking questions about  depth, the Depth, and soul.

  • Hi Brent... thanks for the friend invitation and your warm welecome.

I was moved by James Hillman's grave illness. He invested a great deal in New Mexico Archetypal Art Therapy Community.... I imagined he would recover and return to add to his work. Now in his passing Therapists in New Mexico are carrying on his work. I am reviewing my notes on his talks in UNM's Kiva in 1975 on Alchemy and his Keynote address to the American art Therapy Association in 93

I dream that a Southwest Gulf Coast Chapter can be formed in the model Bonnie Bright has constructed on this internet site

I invite you to check out Southwestern Graduate College of Art Therapy and the New Mexico Art Therapy sites on Facebook

any advice on how to function on this site would be appreciated....

  • Hi Brent...thanks for the shout...we are Facebook friends too btw :)
  • Thank you Brent for your warm welcome. I look forward to participating in the Depth Community. I am just returning from the Popular Culture/American Culture Associations Conference where I presented a paper, "Grace in the Age of Obama," on the panel, MYTHIC MOTIFS IN LITERATURE AND POLITICS. I mention this only to find out if any Depth Alliance people happened to attend this conference in San Antonio, TX last week. Meantime, blessings your way, and more . . .
  • Thank you for the heads up, Brent. New to the site. Looking forward to sharing and learning here. I see you are familiar with Laing's work. I have not heard his name come up for awhile though I think his work is part of the foundation of alternate ways of coming to see aspects of psyche. His work was very important to me as a nursing student. In some ways it met my needs more precisely than some of the more well known and presented theories taught in psychology in the early 80's.

  • Thank you Brent for the warm welcome. I am just moving into a new house or at least a new house for me. I am coming from California to Texas. So I am a little busy but will find time to read and write. Thanks again
  • Hello Brent - nice to click your friend button and check in with a depth Dr. in Seattle.

I will check your facebook site someday, no I am working on the numinous dream images and gestures, yes gestures, in the long held container of a masters in Depth Psych at Sonoma State, where I was in a cohort with Bonnie Bright.

I am also really wondering about the imagery in the radioactivity that is spreading into the ocean...any thoughts?  Julie

  • Hi Brent,

It's' nice to see you here. I haven't logged in here in awhile. I've enjoyed your posts and quotes on facebook.

  • Good Morning Brent,

Thank you for connecting. It's so important to me to stay in community with other like-minded professionals. I'm located in WA state and working on post cardiac depression and the psyche and a secondary enterprise of teaching Kundalini Yoga real time online. Lots of prep work...patiently awaiting the fruit.

    Anne
