New Moon revives the story of Andromeda

The New Moon of 23rd Jan 2012 at 2Aq42 forms a T-square with Jupiter (1Ta44) and Saturn (29Li18) as the base of the T. From 19th Jan onwards, the Sun  (at 29Cap18)  begins its square to Saturn,  the leading edge of the T.

Jupiter wants to expand and reward what Saturn has concretized and put into place, and conversely, Saturn wants to give shape to Jupiter's grand expansive ideals.

The Jupiter-Saturn  opposition must be related to the original synodic conjunction between the same planets to discover meaning. What started at the conjunction reaches a culmination at the opposition  as a success or failure. Success and failure are of course matters of degree, yet it is usually mostly one or the other.  Readers may like to revisit a previous post on the subject.

The meaning of the current Jupiter-Saturn cycle

We have two possible scenarios (a) we give up on those ideas or projects that we started during the conjunction (2000) or subsequent hard aspects (2002-03), (2006-07) (b) we reap the rewards of our efforts or learn to modify our vision to make it more practical or successful.

The synodic conjunction of Jupiter-Saturn took place on 22nd June 2000 at 22Ta01 (see Sabian symbol below). The stars that defined the synod were Botein, Rana and Zaurak.

“This is an area  along the River of Life that motivates us to trust the inner light we have cultivated through our past initiatory trials (through Aries), despite that the path may not be entirely visible…(despite the fact that we or others are lost or tired and need to recuperate). Here we must regain our strength and follow through into the Earthly physical world of Taurus regardless of any residual fears we may hold. Cuspal Taurus is where Perseus completes his initiatory journey (Aries) and claims his self-mastery, depicted by Algol, the head of slain Medusa held in his hand. Thus it requires a need to channel our energy clearly and concisely.” Nick Fiorenza

In our present context look upon Perseus as the hero who had to “hold his light”  in the dark (till now) …surrounded by hostile  people or even those who are just tired and lost.

Medusa symbolically can represent our fears or the fears of those we must deal with and this can take all kinds of forms …denials, evasiveness and even anger when faced with the truth.

The New Moon is conjunct the stars Altair, alpha Aquila , Albireo (alpha Cygnus),  Algedi and Vulpecula . This area is about the use of “cunning” (Vulpecula-the fox)  to achieve our objectives good or bad, noble or ignoble. Albireo is about deception and the confusing facades that we wear to control others. Sometimes we deceive (Vulpecula) others to fulfill our objectives or they deceive us .  In simple terms this area is about the need to  strategize to get our plans to work in the outer world.

Perseus who has been “holding” his light has reached a cross road with the Jupiter-Saturn opposition and the New Moon. He either gives up or reaps a reward.  Recall that sidereal Capricorn coming after sidereal Sagittarius is all about giving shape (earth sign Capricorn) to a vision (Fire sign Sagittarius). If our motives are selfish (Albireo) we will deceive (Vulpecula) others for our personal gain. On the other hand, if the motives are for the benefit of others (Perseus-the hero who wishes to rescue Andromeda) we still need to be smart and perhaps secretive since not everyone is ready to receive our vision. In any case at the Jupiter-Saturn  opposition we face the consequences of our past actions. For example, at this time we may feel the need to modify the way we present our vision to others in order to be more successful. For example, we may be more accepting of their point of view or they ours… failing which  people can leave us or we them because they/we see through the deception, lies or shallowness.

Jupiter is conjunct the stars Mira and Mirach

Mirach is the star of union and of soul mates. The reward for Perseus who held his light in the dark  is finding Andromeda…his soul-mate..also a metaphorical reference to a satisfactory conclusion or reward to our efforts if we have persevered through the trials and tribulations on the way since 2000 (the conjunction) or even 2003 or 2006 the first semisquare and square between Jupiter-Saturn) . Mira (Omicron) Cetus is a star of false glitter and glamour…it may just be an expression of hot air, all show but no true substance or enduring power. Obviously for those who succumbed to the glitter of Mira, Saturn opposition to Jupiter brings an end to their illusions. But since Saturn also concretizes all that is worthwhile, the opposition brings about union and “marriage” for those who were true to themselves. Here the word “marriage” could  be interpreted literally or  metaphorically   as in union with our “higher self” i.e. coming to realization that we were pursuing shallow goals and being freed from those goals. (See Sabian symbol of the New Moon below)

Saturn is conjunct the black hole 3U 1118-60 (Cen X-3) λtrop: 29 Libra 13.

This black hole usually causes people to leave relationships or situations which they perceive do not meet their needs.

A summary of possible manifestations of Jupiter-Saturn :

A happy separation from difficult circumstances e.g. a fortunate turn of events or finally seeing the results of hard work paying off.

People facing consequences of  dishonesty or overextension or following an illusion.
