Those are some great thoughts. I particularly liked: Unfathomable knowledge is hidden within the code of the archetypes, available to us if we can render and decipher the appropriate images to crack open the code. This suggest an endless supply of archetypes, not that I was worried about running out. It also makes me think of the concept of a holographic universe, that is, each and every part of the universe contains the information - past, present, future - about the rest of the universe. At timesI wonder if that isn't a whole lot of what the unconscious is tapping into.

Also liked the section where you stated  will introduce new dynamics. Absolutely, but while the dynamics may be new, are there actually new archetypes, or are we just shuffling the deck. I really like our modern mass media being a part of those dynamics, giving us new configurations and access to archetypes that probably aren't possibly in a world that is strictly oral, written, dancing, music, painting, sculpting, etc. FaceBook itself must surely be introducing new ways of conneccting world wide with archetypes.

Thanks for the reading leads, I'll check them out.

Hi Christian! Great questions. I will volley with the following insights on new archetypes & new myths. If you want to read my take on new myths, here are 20 based on my current permaculture / transition / occupy focus.

'All living beings derive from the collective unconscious; a repository of archetypes…

Archetypes are governing principles in the recesses of the psyche. They perform like manifolds that reorient, distribute and archive all energy, thought, and impulse that is absorbed into the collective unconscious. Unfathomable knowledge is hidden within the code of the archetypes, available to us if we can render and decipher the appropriate images to crack open the code. This is purpose of the archetype in myth.

New symbol matrixes should be constructed that release the stored energy within the archetypes. New mythology and the return to the archetypes through any medium (books, film, music, and visual art) will introduce new dynamics and operate with a sincere intention to build a bridge between the psyche and the cosmos.'

How can we go about creating a new myth? New and myth sound contradictory, paradoxical at a minimum. It would seem that myths are deeply rooted in our unconscious and we would need to work with the elements that resonate with those deep roots. Would new myths consist of using existing archetypes in new ways, or would we need to create new archetypes. A new archetype strikes me as even more paradoxical. Is an archtype the kind of thing, the kind of context, the kind of thought, that can be created, invented, or must it grow autochthonously? But surely, as evolution goes on its merry way there must be new archetypes that we are encountering. Would the current (dis)relationship we have towards the environment be a new archetype or has this always been a human issue?

Not really expecting answers to any of this, just thought it may stimulate some conversation.

Best,

Christian

Hi Kelly - Thanks for joining the group!

What is your experience with Nature-based symbols and alchemy like the ones presented?

Can you suggest any others?

Cordially,

Willi

Hi Christian! Thanks for joining us.

What drew you here?

Any of the initial resources excite you?

Please share you experience with myth with us!

Let's consider some new symbols? Here are some that I developed from the permaculture movement. Please offer your reflections! Could you use these to produce a new myth?

Greetings -

Where would you like to start? Ideas for mytho-permaculture sources: Mother, Sun & the Compost Pile. Perhaps an interview from a Transitionite

Can you bring a new myth to the table? Can't wait to collaborate with you.

Willi
