“The greatest and most important problems in life
can never be solved, only outgrown.”
~C.G. Jung
In contemporary culture, and in many current approaches to therapy, we are taught to respond to our problems with pragmatic, efficient, and so-called evidence-based efforts to “solve” them, with the goal of getting fast relief from our symptoms. C.G. Jung offers a different approach, one that engages and integrates the richness and complexity of the unconscious, and in doing so brings to our lives depth, nuance, meaning, and individuality. He suggests that instead of trying to solve our problems, with might outgrow them. What does this mean, and how can we go about it? This workshop will explore these questions. We’ll unpack some key ideas from Jung by drawing on poetry, film, comics, music, photography, and more. We’ll then engage in individual reflection, group discussion, and meaningful ritual to experience how this approach can touch and enrich our everyday lives.
