Latest Activity: Oct 6, 2016
In this opening address, Loralee Scott-Conforti, Executive Director of The Assisi Institute, will introduce the international work and mission of Seeing Red. In response to the continued violence and oppression directed towards women and girls, she has led an international task force in exploring the archetypal roots of feminine oppression.
The occlusion of archetypal identities of the powerful and conscious feminine has resulted in a trans-generational and traumatic loss of identity that has been normalized. It continues to explore the critical role of the creative unconscious in reconnecting to this archetypal identity and the need for a revision of the stages of women's development from a post-Jungian perspective.
Informed by the work of Erich Neumann relative to the creative unconscious; by Dr. Michael Conforti’s work relative to the objective psyche and an archetypal understanding of trauma; by Dr. Judith Herman’s work on the stages of recovery; and Dr. Efrat Ginot’s work on the neuropsychology of the unconscious, this inaugural lecture will be a step towards expanding the conversation relative to the stages of women's development and the emerging feminine consciousness
Loralee Scott- Conforti MFA is the Executive Director of the Assisi Institute and Founder and Director of Seeing Red. A certified MBTI Consultant and sought after presenter, Loralee's work is focused on the inter-disciplinary connections of Jungian psychology, creativity, neuropsychology, feminine identity and transformational leadership. She has been a featured presenter at the 2015 IAAP conference on Art and Psyche in Siracusa Italy and the DC Anti-Trafficking Conference, among others.
Past artistic work includes a dance theater production focused on the global issue of human trafficking that resulted in the passage of anti-trafficking legislation. Her work around this issue is featured as part of a compilation of research included in Grief and The Expressive Arts published by Routledge.
ABOUT Seeing Red Conference, Oct 6-9, 2016
The unconscious roots of feminine oppression often lie hidden behind manifestations of violence that leave us seeing red and merely reacting. In order to be pro-active, to stop the violence before it starts, we must begin by illuminating the unconscious archetypal patterns which inform it .
The Assisi Institute’s Seeing Red initiative is designed to facilitate a deep integration of the analytic and the artistic in order to make room for a profound relationship to the psyches and souls of women around the world. Through an archetypal understanding of feminine oppression and a creative response that is able to bring the unconscious into the light of day, it is our intention that the results of this inter-disciplinary study will result in a new way of seeing and of being seen.
