Event Description

Join Seeing Red Conference on International Women's Day for this complimentary program!

The abuse of women and girls continues to be, as former US President Jimmy Carter stated, "the most pervasive and unaddressed human rights violation on earth." It is difficult to understand why in every country around the world, gender based violence continues to thrive.

On March 8th, International Women's Day, Seeing Red is pleased to bring together a panel of internationally recognized artists, therapists and authors to share their stories and experiences of being women in the world and to talk about how their artistry, their writing, their work is rooted in the resiliency of hope and where they see hope moving forward.

Feminine oppression is more than simply a political issue. It is a psychological reality that has been internalized and continues to live as a saboteur in the unconscious psyche. Both the work of Carl Jung and the research of contemporary neuropsychology point towards the mandate of creative engagement in identifying and working with these hidden oppressors.

Rebecca Solnit writes: "Hope locates itself in the premises that we don't know what will happen and that in the spaciousness of uncertainty is room to act." I hope you will join us for what is sure to be a fascinating conversation with these incredible women whose lives and work are a remarkable illustration of what is possible when we dare to act out our hope.
