Barry and Maya will speak about their shared interests in mythology, archetypal psychology, storytelling, poetry and ritual, which is the practical application of these studies. Their focus is on mythological thinking, soul work and the relationship between the personal and the cultural. The same dynamics apply to American culture that apply to our personal lives, or “As above, so below.” Their presentation will include some recited poetry and will hopefully provoke some good conversation.

"Barry writes about American history and politics from the perspectives of myth and archetypal psychology. His book, Madness At The Gates Of The City: The Myth Of American Innocence, won the 2011 PEN/Oakland Literary Award. Read his blogs atwww.madnessatthegates.wordpress.com

Maya is a storyteller, poet, ritualist, retired children’s librarian, and certified SoulCollage facilitator.  She was proud to be a member of Stone Dancers, a women’s circle meeting that met weekly for 25 years." ~  Read more about their work at http://www.barryandmayaspector.com/Barryandmaya/Home.html
