Our property on the Bay of Quinte is home to several species of native trees. In one area we call the glen, we’ve been witnessing an ongoing onslaught by invasive insects. Over a period of three to four years we watched helplessly as the ash trees slowly lost their battles to the Ash Borer Beetle. It bores pencil holes into the bark, then tunnels under it, robbing the trees of vital sap. Simultaneous attacks by tent caterpillars forced the trees to leaf out twice in the same season depleting their reserves.

The first tree to come down was a 60 foot specimen that was still mostly alive when we felled it. It came down with a heavy thud that shook the little glen, and sent my son and me running for cover.  We bucked the branches and left the trunk for another day.

Three nights later I awoke around 4:30 AM for a bathroom visit, and became wide awake afterwards. Since it was a mild October night, I put on my bathrobe and slippers in the dark, and decided to walk down to the glen to make a rare, early morning meditation.

As I descended into the glen I hit something. I had forgotten about the felled tree laying in the middle of the very dark glen. Even though my eyes were dark adapted, I did not see the branches lying on the ground until I walked into them. As I peered into the darkness before me, my eyes took in a faint ribbon of light stretching away from me for many feet into the night’s darkness. I had to take a few steps back to catch my breath and regain my balance.

Puzzled, I walked back up to the rim of the glen from where I could see that there were no patches of low-lying fog forming anywhere down in the glen. The night sky above was clear and starlit, and I could not see any sky shine from other ground sources. I gave the long sliver of glowing light a wide berth so as not to disturb it, as I walked around to approach it from another angle to see if I could discover its source and extent.  This time as I got closer, I could make out a soft grey-blue  glow hovering over the full length of the carcass of the tree. As my mind took in the significance of the scene my head dropped intuitively out of respect for what I knew in my heart was a lifeforce leaving the dying tree. I said some words of regret, and my body started to shake with excitement or cold, as I sat in quiet wonder.

The glow disappeared as the morning light entered the glen. I rushed to the house to investigate the strange light on-line.  My cursory research suggested that the grey-blue glow fit the pattern for bioluminescence from decaying organic matter. The common name is Foxfire or Will ‘o the Wisp, and it was documented long ago. The usual sources are decaying matter and fungi, and the glow is so faint that it can only be observed if your eyes have been dark adapted. Apparently, the light is produced by a pair of special enzymes present in decaying matter which react with each other to release biophotons of soft light. After discussing the tree’s eerie glow with an experienced woodsmen and chemist, I chose the simple explanation that the light I had observed that morning came from rotting sawdust created under the ash bark by destructive beetle activity.

A few days later I started to dissect the trunk for firewood, and I noticed how thick the bark was, and how little actual sawdust had been produced by the beetle invaders. The amount of sawdust under the bark was trivial, and it just didn’t seem possible that so little organic matter could produce all the light that I had observed. In addition, the bark was so thick that it would surely absorb all the light photons completely. More compelling, was the sudden realization that the rest of the ash trees that were still standing were equally infected, but they did not give off any visible light emissions on that night. As the realization sank in; that the eerie glow over the dying ash tree was most likely its life force or spirit leaving the dying carcass, it sent a chill up my spine.

I consulted some of the top forestry research and management experts in Canada, who ruled out an explosion of the Armillaria fungus, that glows in the dark forest, and can spread over large areas of forest floor and acts as a communication system for trees. It became clear that the unusual glow could not be explained satisfactorily by natural processes. I reviewed my personal impressions as I witnessed the event, keeping in mind that my human presence in the glen could have perturbed the natural electromagnetic field energies present on that morning. The physical evidence I observed that morning informed me (mentally and spiritually) that spirits live  in trees. Why is there no documentation of this anywhere? Can only autistic eyes discern spirits and things that glow in the night? Now I see trees differently. Wherever there are trees, there is abundant life. They’re like living fasteners that connect the sky with the earth. Because they live in both worlds, they act as a conduit of communication between them.

FMRI studies reveal that consciousness is still measurably present after the brain/body has died, telling us that consciousness is not the result of biological processes. Science supports the theory that trees have intelligence, because trees have been observed to mount organized defences against a deadly threat like invading insects. Planning and strategizing require creative thought.

When the rest of the ash group is felled this spring, they will hopefully provide more opportunities to study this undocumented phenomenon, perhaps with a night vision camera.

Shamanic and other spiritual cultures around the world honour and use sacred trees as: portals or gateways to hidden worlds, sources of wisdom, and even wish fulfillment. To name just a few, the Mohawks of North America honour the cedar as the sacred tree of life. The Caribe natives honour the ceiba tree, and West African’s have spiritual relationships with the iroko tree.

The visible light emissions coming from the ash tree trunk 3 days after it was cut down, proved to me with high confidence that trees have a spiritual nature that gives them life, and it can be observed and possibly documented under the right conditions.

As I look back over this blog which started in March 2019, it’s grown into an honest journal of my personal experiences since that strange moonless October night in 2018, when I had an accidental collision with a fallen tree on my property.

While many journeys of the human soul take a lifetime to complete, this very short journey took less than an hour. It started early one morning around 4:00 AM when I made a bathroom visit, after which I found myself wide awake. Since it was a warm October night, I decided to put on my bathrobe and walk down to a small glen on my property, where my dowsing surveys had detected lines of electromagnetic energy emerging from the landscape. These ground energies are strongest at sunrise, and I wanted to experience a meditation under these conditions.

It was a moonless night, and I felt relaxed as my sleepy feet led me down into the glen. Suddenly, something out of the darkness punched me in the face, stopping me in my tracks. As I stood in shock, it took a couple of seconds to realize that I had walked into some tree branches belonging to the tree we had cut down a few days before. The impact around my eyes produced what looked like electrical discharges from my optic nerve, and after they quieted down I saw a thin silver ribbon emerge and move away from me. When I walked around the tree lying on the ground to see what had happened, I saw how the silver ribbon had grown into a huge display of bioluminescence. It looked like a cloud about one inch thick, and hovering passively over the entire length of the tree trunk, producing a faint grayish-blue light that shimmered.

I knelt beside the bioluminescence, and as I studied it, a feeling of quiet reverence swept over me. I knew somehow that what I was observing was so extraordinary that it did not belong to ordinary reality. It looked like it came out of the fallen tree, and I assumed too quickly that it was a form of subtle energy that had emerged from the dying tree.

Most hero’s journeys seem to be about human spirit falling into matter, but this journey hurled me, holus bolus [subconscious et al], into the world of cosmic light. I would chase that light for the next year, until my journey ended in Theosophy. There, I learned that the bioluminescence that I had been staring at in the dark and attributing to the fallen tree, was in fact an integral part of me, that my subconscious mind had deployed in a moment of crisis to defend me, when the branch hit my face in the dark.

As a senior, I wasn’t sure I had the fire in the belly required to go on a serious journey, but the event dangled before me…and I needed to know the nature of that light. For the next year, I went deep and investigated many sources of naturally occurring bioluminescence, including Wilhelm Reich’s orgone energy. That sojourn revealed the life cycle of bions, and the all pervasive [divine] ether that fills the cosmos.

After exhausting all scientific explanations, I found meaningful information and explanations in material provided by the Theosophical Society. The Etheric Double, by A. E. Powell describes my etheric double perfectly, and provides many examples of instances where a person has been able to disconnect their etheric matter and use it to see into or travel to other world’s. In 1848, the Fox sisters introduced spirituality to the world, and those who took up the movement were able to connect with an use their etheric energy in physical ways. The rest is history.

Summing up, I believe that my hero’s journey into light was successful, and brought me back a tremendous amount of hidden information about how I am constructed and how I work on deeper levels, without my conscious knowledge, and more importantly perhaps, without my direct control.

It is now my duty to share this valuable information with humanity.

The United States of America is an old military state that boasts the world’s biggest and most powerful, nuclear armed war machine. Today, the USA terrorizes and dominates the globe with massive violence and threats of violence, in order to have its way in the world. To soothe the national conscience, the state hides its military aggression by disguising it with the powerful social delusion known as: “American exceptionalism”.

With constant support from a complicit American media, Washington pretends to advance a global agenda of: liberation, democracy, and human rights, which the media markets to a confused American public as “police work” designed to maintain global order [in the American Empire]. About 93% of its history has been taken up with making war against weaker nations, and today it uses more than 700 military bases to intimidate and control sovereign governments, not unlike holding them hostage in their own countries, as a way to secure its hold on foreign national wealth, within the brutally violent American Empire.

Sane societies view national health care as the most important function of their national defence. The physical and mental health of each individual is far more important to peace loving communities than bombing strategic targets in foreign lands to gain control over their resources. Noam Chomsky informs us that the American public initially opposes every American-made foreign war, until US troops are committed by government. Once US troops are sent in, the American public becomes politically tricked, coerced, and shamed into supporting another US takeover war, because to oppose it at that stage would be unpatriotic and dangerous in a military controlled state. The American public is coerced into repeatedly supporting hate crimes known as war.

The actual origin of the COVID-19 pandemic that was unleashed in Wuhan China, is still unknown. It was promptly brought under control in just a couple of weeks in Wuhan, China, by a self-protecting public, not the government. The people in Wuhan had become culturally conditioned to deal with airborne hazards, and used respiratory protection naturally, without official prompting, at the first sign of respiratory viruses. The Hong Kong press reported an upsurge in face mask sales before the official lockdown was announced days later. An experienced, self protecting public that doned face masks without orders, was the key to success, and it was not orchestrated or imposed by government, but happened naturally. Since no political groups could take credit for the crushing of the viral outbreak, it was not highlighted or discussed, by a politically biased and interfering western media.

Today, because the American government imposed a set of social engineering measures [lockdowns, social distancing] instead of protective measures [face masks to stop airborne viruses] on its populace, we recognize the pandemic as an opportunity for western governments to increase their control over the populace with social engineering. If face masks had been prescribed by governments there would be little or no need for social engineering or destroying the economy by the architects of the Deep State, to make way for the New World Order of government, whose agenda is more oppression and enslavement.

Because the American public has been “denied and deprived’ of effective respiratory protection with face masks for many months, the USA is now being ravaged by the COVID pandemic. The unchecked pandemic has produced an estimated 4,700,000 infections [reported], which is realistically closer to 47 million infections, and 150,000 deaths [a shocking 6% death rate].

It is abundantly clear that the US Department of National Defence with an enormous budget that dwarfs the price tag for national health care, has failed to protect the American public in its hour of extreme and legitimate need. Isn’t it time to examine national defence with ethical eyes, and put the welfare of families above the profits of war making corporations who care nothing about families?

Throughout human history we humans have recognized those creatures around us that have the ability to move through different worlds, and return to this world.

                                                   Thanks to Dawid Iurino

The lotus [India] and crocodile [Egypt] have been revered for their ability to travel to other worlds, and we have learned to follow..The lotus is born in the dark underworld of water and rises to open in the sunlight, and the crocodile emerges from the depths of the unknown waters, to climb out onto land.

While struggling through the Red Book last summer, I became fascinated by Jung’s character Philemon. He seemed to represent the voice of ancient reason, living “humanely” in the unpredictable chaos of the great [undifferentiated] wilderness.

A few months ago, I wrote and posted a short story about a wild cat who I named Philemon. Later, I named the story “The Alchemy of Healing”.

A few weeks later, I had been installing new railings on the back deck, when I decided to come in for a cold drink. As my hand reached for the fridge door I heard a big bang, like a brick hitting my patio door. I ran back and slid open the glass door to see a kingfisher bird lying on it’s back, on a chair beside the door. It’s eye was searching the sky before finding mine, and then it closed slowly as I spoke soft words of encouragement. It had seen a reflection of the Bay water in the glass door, and unfortunately it flew into it full bore.

I’m a birder living in a glass house, and therefore used to seeing many birds collide with glass. About 70% recover from the head injury if protected against scavengers. Even snakes will linger near the areas where birds fall, hoping for a quick meal.

I was very shocked to see a kingfisher lying on my deck. We live about 150 feet [like a 15 storey building], above the waters of the Bay of Quinte. This is where eagles and osprey fly daily, but we never see kingfishers way up here. They’re diving birds, and they prefer the lower levels ie: wetlands, rivers, ponds, and lakes.

The dead kingfisher was such a rare and unexpected event, that moments later I remembered Jung’s dead kingfisher, the one he found unexpectedly during a walk along the shore, at a time when he was pondering the mysteries of the character Philemon used by Faust. The synchronicity inspired Jung to dive into and explore the subconscious layer of humanity, through his fantasies in which he allowed his characters the free will to say what his conscious mind could NEVER say out loud.

Jung took the character Philemon from Goethe’s Faust, and he painted him with kingfisher wings, the wings of a diving bird. Why a kingfisher?

                                                Thank you Philemon Project

The kingfisher is a beautiful diving bird that plunges fearlessly into the depths of the unknown, where it finds nourishment among dangers, and it’s great wings carry it back out, to safety. The kingfisher travels to other worlds, and has mastered the air, the land, and water. It knows the secrets of each layer of life as it transcends each one subjectively.

Thank you great bird for coming and sharing the secret of your wonderful wings, that take us to hidden places, to find great secrets of the universe inside us.

THANK YOU..so much for providing the recording of Racism in America, Integrating the Shadow. Great discussion by Fanny Brewster and David Ragland, with lovely support from James.
Racism has been the curse of humanity, and slavery has been, and still is just one major event away. My parents were made slaves for five years during WWII, when Germany tried to colonize Europe and the USSR. The first thing Nazis did was overrun Poland, and take slaves back to work in Germany. Today, slavery rears its ugly head silently in toxic legislation like the Patriot Act in the USA, and the Anti-Terrorism Bill in Canada, that trump our human rights, and restrict many of our freedoms.
It was a great honour and pleasure, to hear and feel Fanny's voice of reason express original thoughts from a beautifully sovereign heart-mind. The clear timber of her voice suggests she has transcended the many cultures she has lived in, to become the new voice in the wilderness.

Part 1 – Our Bird Brain Starts Us Off

Is racism driven by a particular code within the same basic operating programs for survival common to many species, that drives them to control their immediate environment, and which has been called: “the territorial imperative”?

All living kingdoms appear to have a dominating agenda which is advanced under the right conditions,  and which we generally interpret as natural growth.  When we look at it functionally, we see an incremental process that resembles colonization, which results in partial or complete domination of the environment by an aggressive species.  At the base layer, lichens colonize bare rock surfaces, grasses colonize deserts and plains, and trees colonize grasslands, animals colonize grasslands and forests, fishes colonize oceans, and then man arrives to colonize everything.

The history of the human kingdom reveals that the discrete code to dominate is much stronger in some individuals, who rise aggressively to become the elites of society, the community leaders who create and shape the local culture to support their agenda of domination.

The question arises; do dominant individuals come with a discrete domination code that is experienced as an unsatisfied need to control others, or is there one code for all, but environmental conditions favour some within the same species?

Students of human nature interpret the need to dominate others as the supremacist state of mind, which is constructed with beliefs that support its agenda. Supremacist belief systems are used to create an artificial hierarchy that supports their dominance over those who they perceive are below.

Supremacist children are conditioned from birth with cultural information that shapes their thinking and feeling, creating their self image. A daily diet of cultural sayings and slogans like: “We’re the best”, “We’re No.1”, and “We were born to rule.”, establishes in young minds the guiding delusion that they are superior to others. Racism based on the notion of genetic, ethnic, or historic supremacy is learned in the home, and is usually driven by a supporting culture outside the home where the elites in a community continually dominate the rest?

The old triune model of the human organ called the brain, reveals its first stage of evolution as the primal reptilian, or bird brain. Its discrete construction produces specific patterns of behavior including a rudimentary form of social order [pecking order?], to serve its owners in particular environments, ie: water, land, and air. Over time, bird species like the kingfisher for example, became masters of all three.

The same mental organ, whether in the kingfisher or a human, generates the same or similar patterns of perceptions, responses, impulses, and tendencies that guide behaviour. Our brain bond is evident in the high regard humans have for the bird kingdom. Historically, birds have been recruited as symbols of our highest spiritual aspirations; ie: nurturing peace and boundless love, as well as the lowest material goals advanced by certain aggressive nations with predatory ambitions and goals.

Today, nest cams give us a candid look into the first signs of inbred aggression in predator birds like the Bald Eagle. Here we see how the first chick to hatch from its egg is programmed to dominate its rival siblings, by attacking them moments after they emerge, still wet from their eggs. The first born usually dominates the nest environment mercilessly, and subsequent chicks often fall victim to the fierce head butting attacks by an older sibling, driven by its innate need to dominate its immediate environment. In adulthood, this instinct probably continues as the territorial imperative.

As the brain owner moved into different, more challenging environments on Earth’s landscape, such as: dense forests, savannahs, wetlands, mountains, ice fields, deserts, jungles, etc..that required different types of behaviours in order to survive, he learned to transcend or suppress the innate need to dominate others in order to form relationships conducive to social security. This resulted in collective efforts towards common goals, ie: wayfinding in a hostile world, sheltering and food gathering, and group protection. As more humans gathered together to create human environments, they discovered that the old bird brain that was good at survival, just couldn’t keep up with the new social demands, and a new socializing brain was required.

How did it happen? The brain owner, whether alone or with the help of unseen architects, expanded the old brain with add-ons that would equip him to meet these challenges. This process resembles what we recognize today as “continuous improvement”, and suggests that the brain, like our DNA, changes itself incrementally when stimulated by the difficulty of new challenges that come from outside of self.

When humans run out of solutions to a pressing problem, and we reach a helpless state of mental stagnation or thought paralysis, our more powerful subconscious mind which is connected to other unseen sources of information, rises up to offer solutions that may seem to come from away. I believe that our powerful imagination creates or recruits new thoughtforms, the seeds of new skills, new technology, and a new culture that will support these solutions.

Human children’s higher brains require years to organize, rewire, and get up to speed, and until they do they’re largely guided by default, by the primitive bird brain that is ‘ready to go’ from birth.

The schoolyard is a ready-made lab, where we see primitive human behaviours played out freely, and limited only by an observant teacher. It’s easy to spot early signs of innate predatory behaviour, where the head butting aggression of the first born eaglet to control its environment, manifests as the pushing and shoving of others by a child as it moves through the schoolyard full of its peers. It’s easy to spot overt bully tendencies in small children before they become self-consciously curtailed, concealed, and sent down into the shadow lands of young psyche’s, for safe keeping.

Those children whose attempts at bullying result in success without penalty, will go on to use forms of aggression as a means of controlling and dominating others. The child’s ego learns simple life lessons: “I get what I need, when I do this.”. It quickly mimics the social hierarchy it observes around itself, and it aspires to an advantageous position within that hierarchy, that it has come to believe, either by its own reckoning or by instruction, that it is entitled to occupy. It understands that control of others provides many more opportunities for rewards and privilege, which would not be available or attainable without that behavior and the hierarchy of social power. A belief system founded on the principle of domination becomes embedded in the child’s thinking as the royal road to personal pleasure and social advancement.

Even a child with a weak supremacist instinct, when immersed in a culture founded on supremacist beliefs or delusions, will take on the values around him. There is little chance for a child to escape this strong cultural conditioning that shapes the child’s perception of the world, and provides him with an identity, as well as a set of ready-made responses to defend that delusion. Every ambitious group that wishes to gain power over others, uses delusions to attract, bind, and hold its members in its service.

I really don't know why I avoided reading Helena Blavatsky's great works until now, but I believe that my simple mind just wasn't ready to take on the highly complex world of the greatest truth seeker since Thoth, Helena Blavatsky. I find it difficult to navigate through complex ideas like astrology that don't interest me much.

If I had read the book five years ago say, before I had a numinous experience with my etheric self in the darkness of the glen a couple of years ago, and before I solved the great mystery surrounding the release of my etheric double, the book would have confused me endlessly.

My numinous experience taught me that humans possess amazing unseen resources and skills which we are not aware of, and we’re just beginning to comprehend and master.

By the end of the first hundred pages in "Isis Unveiled”,  I felt I had come home. I was never more ready to read a book, and I devoured her extensive knowledge, informed insights, and ancient wisdom, like a starving man. Some of her affectations however, as well as her extended arguments were tiresome, and empty for me, so I skipped the petty stuff as I scanned for deeper truths.

Blavatsky filled many pages discussing the reaction of the scientific world [including much of the establishment of the day], to the emergence of spirituality in America in 1848, via the Fox sisters [discussed in an earlier posting here]. While she chastised and criticized these skeptics for not opening their minds to the unseen, and failing to allow for the existence of subtle energies, she did not sort out and explain the details of what was actually happening to produce spiritual  phenomenon like table lifting and turning, noises, and the manifestation of physical ectoplasm from mediums while in a state of trance.

My experience with the natural process of detaching and releasing our etheric matter from between our physical and astral bodies, or opening the “spirit-ether-matter” complex, prepared me to see into what was really happening in séances. There are people who through trauma or will power have been able to detach, form, and project their etheric layer [or double] to do their bidding. It appears to be an unconscious layer of low density, non-living material consisting of life giving prana and other energies, which normally serves to absorb and distribute life giving prana to human organs as required. Genuine mediums who have trained themselves, can produce ectoplasm while in a trance state where the subconscious mind is allowed to rise, manifest and manipulate this energy. An advanced medium can attain etheric sight during this time to see beyond the material world, and A. E. Powell has documented many cases where mediums have travelled through the etheric world.

In the Secret Doctrine, Helena reveals the ancient concept of the original divine trinity of: Father-Mother-Son. I find this relationship interesting because it is the same trinity depicted in the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River at the hands of John the Baptist. The Dead Sea Scrolls reveal that John and Jesus, [Jeshua]  belonged to the secretive and reclusive sect known as the Essenes who called themselves the Sons of Light, and were preparing for a big military showdown with the  Sons of Darkness, the Roman armies. The Essenes had long practiced ritual bathing, and John the Baptist was a rough man living in the desert, and he used this sacred ritual to bring initiates to see the kingdom of heaven by holding the initiate under water till near drowning, inducing a near death experience. If the Jesus narrative about the Roman crucifixion is true, then Jesus went willingly to his Roman death because he had already conquered death in the Jordan. "Unless ye be baptized, ye shall not see the kingdom of heaven". Jesus had witnessed the promised kingdom of heaven through the brutal hands of John the Baptizer, who showed his initiates the other side of life before pulling them back. Like the modern medical students who liked to: "flat line" their peers in the movie, John probably did the ritual so often that his timing improved, and no one died.

The Trinity at the River Jordan - The biblical report of the baptism of Jesus by John at the River Jordan , is written to reveal:  The Son’s emergence from the approving will of the Father, under the organizing spirit of the Mother, who appears over Jesus as a dove, the symbol of Asherah or the mother goddess of humanity.

My question is: of the three energies at the Jordan, which one was in charge? Which energy overlaid itself over the others and became the reigning energy?

Many thanks to the Louvre Museum .

My life began in Belgium and his in Barbados, two nations whose cultures had very little in common. We had traveled different pathways, and somehow our journeys converged late in life in a hospital room, in a small town where we had come to retire.

My cardiovascular disease and his leukemia brought us together, and after exchanging a few polite words, he spotted the book I was reading, and asked about my spiritual journey.

I was struggling with: “The Architecture of Belief”, a big book by a University of Toronto psychology professor named Jordan Peterson, who thought he was writing about how the human brain acquires beliefs systems, when in fact he had inadvertently extracted and exposed the toxic thought forms used by British Christian Supremacists [BCS], to dominate and oppress humanity.  He has emerged as a BCS spokesperson who unashamedly lends moral support to supremacist politics.

[What I’ve learned since then. The much touted Peterson completely missed the purpose of religion, because he failed to recognize it as a form of spiritual dominance which works like soft governance. History informs us that in the first century CE, ambitious Imperial Roman families like the Flavians, recognized the enormous power of religion over human minds at Masada. They recruited Hebrew priests along with Hebrew turncoat Pliny the Elder, to create the first Christian gospels, with a back narrative that supported Roman authority.  Rome hijacked Jeshua’s itinerant shamanic practice, and Romanized it in such a way that the voice in the New Testament speaks with clear and unequivocal Roman order and authority, and not the soft spiritual voice one would expect from a caring deity. A couple of centuries later, in 325 CE, after years of civil war that divided Rome, Emperor Constantine followed in Ezra’s footsteps by manufacturing a religion that would reunite the Roman empire. He wanted a religion that would pacify and control the hearts of minds of Rome’s huge slave population that was threatening rebellion. He had complete editorial control over the contents of the New Testament, and he recreated the new Jesus as a Roman god, and reorganized the fake Flavian and other gospels into the New Testament to produce Roman Christianity. For the next 18 centuries, countless nations around the world fell to Christian genocidal land theft, as Constantine’s Cross of Conquest terrorized the indigenous worlds. The business of Christianity was spiritual domination, as a means of establishing and maintaining political control.]

Winston shared his epiphany at Chartres. He had been walking in meditation around the great cathedral in France when he suddenly became overwhelmed by remembrance of a past life as a worker on the great building. He re-experienced some of the feelings. It was a pivotal moment that changed his life, and he began to study TM and follow great spiritual teachers like Ram Das. He reached out with easy kindness, and a gentle warmth that even my dark side could not resist.

Winston came into my life at a time when I had just retired from a frenzied lifestyle in the city. As a lifelong introvert, I was exhausted from dealing constantly with people in tense situations. I was burned out, and all I wanted was to retreat from the world of men, hide myself in nature and let it heal me.  He may have noticed that I was becoming too feral for my own good, and after a few years he brought me into his men’s group, where I rejoined the world of men. The men’s group turned out to be the best thing ever.

After battling leukemia for most of his life, Winston’s journey took him to the next level a few days ago. Over the years, he had been feeding a lovely doe who visited his yard occasionally, and he named her Bella. On the evening that his astral body separated from his physical body, Bella came to pay her respects, and was seen waiting in the usual place.

Three mornings later, as I sat reading on my front deck on the other side of the island, I lifted my head to see a face staring quietly at me from a distance. It was the lovely, soft face of a doe whose body was still hidden behind bushes. My soul jumped, as I knew instantly it was Winston’s Bella, and I called out to her. Her ears rotated at the sound of my voice, and we stood in silent communion for several minutes recognizing and absorbing each other. Slowly, she stretched her long elegant neck forward to emerge completely from the bush. With deliberate care, she made her way graciously across my cedar grove, following the unseen path known by all of Gaia’s creatures. She slipped into the bushes on the other side, and disappeared into the ravine, followed by my tears of joy and gratitude.

Helena Blavatsky's Isis Unvieled, alludes to the fire/light that separates spirit from matter at the time of separation after death. We know that etheric matter is the transition stage of spirit to matter, the connecting membrane of chakras, various energies, organs, communication systems, which comprise an exact copy of the physical body.

At the moment of death, the separation is made possible by the detachment of the etheric body from both other parts. Outside the physical body it decays, or there is some info that it may be taken and recycled by spirits of ill repute, who wish to use to it take on physical form.

Was this image produced by the release of the etheric double of the owner, at the moment of death?

I was raised a Catholic, and I was drawn to the spiritual path early in life. I studied the Christian material available to lay people, and went on spiritual retreats to learn more from the Jesuits. That road ended when a priest assaulted me in high school because of my Tourettes. Years later I found myself studying both ancient and new age religions with little progress toward what I would call spiritual enlightenment.

Years of psychotherapy, primal work, group work, meditation, massages, conferencing, etc…brought only small changes for me, and did not really advance my understanding of how I am constructed and how I work. At 70, my conscious mind was still struggling with the basic question that a lifetime of learning and exploring did not answer with any degree of satisfaction: What am I?

Then one sleepless October night I walked out into the darkness of my property in my slippers and bathrobe, bumped into a tree with my face, and my subconscious mind revealed the great and powerful mystery of me.  In that crisis moment in the glen, I did not recognize my etheric double spread out over the fallen tree trunk.  I misidentified my own etheric matter as a tree spirit. It was a layer of non-living etheric matter that connects my physical body with my astral body.  It took another year and half to solve the mystery of our etheric abilities, those supernatural abilities that lay buried deep inside us like Kunadlini energy waiting for the right conditions to emerge.

No incense, no chanting, no dancing, no praying, no supplication, no sacrifices, no communing with spirits. The simple event of banging my head accidentally against a fallen tree in the dark night opened the doors to one of my highest and greatest mysteries.
