Janet Clark replied to Pietro Impagliazzo's discussion The Guardian of the Portal
"I'm glad to see that someone else has had similar experiences.
We each encounter gate-keepers when we apply for jobs or promotions, or are hoping to enter untried new fields, etc., but when we fail to get past the guardians we don't talk about it…"

Janet Clark replied to Pietro Impagliazzo's discussion The Guardian of the Portal
"My follow-up posting is absolutely true, and yet also somewhat of a "Look! I made lemonade out of the lemons that I was handed" bit of slickness.
Part of my reaction was in response to Mats' intense intellectualization of an experience that is…"

"I shared my experience in this forum not to cast stones at analysts who made a life-changing decision without themselves having to endure the real-life consequences, but in order to put a human face on the topic of The Guardian at the Portal.
I do…"

Janet Clark replied to Pietro Impagliazzo's discussion The Guardian of the Portal
"Almost exactly twenty-seven years ago, in  Zurich, I was given permission to take the Propadeuticum after 3 years of training at the Jung Institute. I attended the required colloquia, my papers were approved, I had satisfied all of the requirements,…"

"Oh, so many answers! <grin>  I paint in both oil and watercolor (with some acrylic thrown in). Printmaking: etchings and collgraphs, mostly. Occasionally monoprints.
I, too, encourage you to try your hand at watercolor. You will be surprised at how…"

"Yes, Ed, I do paint. I started many years ago, when I was a training candidate in Zurich. I also do a bit of printmaking and I hook rugs.

I see that you are a student at Pacifica. When do you finish up? And what are your plans for using your…"

  • Painting, what's your media? I have a friend who is posushing hard for me to try watercolors. I'm not sure I'm ready to give up control enough to go there. Zurich!! Ah, someday...... What type of print work?? (oh, so many questions!!) My potential thesis is on theatre and I'm heading (psyche willing) toward doing more writing, going "public" with my stuff to see if it has any selling power. Also an advocate for the arts with a small LLC I created. As to the actual uses of the degree, my initial purpose was to keep my brain and soul alive in an ever-numbing environment. I suppose I will need to pay back the loans unless I can find another PhD after this one. :)

  • Welcome Janet,

I especially like your combination of art and dreamwork. Are you an artist yourself? There are several folks in the Alliance who bring art to the conversation. Glad you are with us.

  • Hi Janet. Welcome to the online Depth community. I'm so glad you have an interest in the honeybees. The phenomena of CCD captivated me in early 2007 and in the end, gripped me so strongly I ended up writing my Master's thesis on the symbolism and depth psychological aspects of it.

You'll see a fairly short blog post on it in the "Blogs" section (or search the site for "bees" and or the link to the entire PDF of the thesis is located on the Links page. My essay in "Rebearths" (the new anthology you see posted on the right of the page) is also a version of an excerpt from the thesis. I am still gripped by the bees...so we'll see what's next. Hopefully you will find other items of interest here in the Alliance. I hope you enjoy, and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions on any of it. I'm happy to share.
