Woman attempts to blackmail entire public for $1 million or she will kill her unborn baby, now we have a new twist and, a new low: abortion extortion.

God is dead and the ego has become God, or in some cases such as Brazil Jesus huh? Egotism is prone to pursue pleasure and avoid pain. Material pain in some cases, it seems...

  • Well, they say the average cost of raising a child to age 18 in the U.S. is approximate $250K. Add $8K to give birth in a hospital (complication free), $120K for college, maybe $150K for a house to raise the baby in, and we're up to $528K.

So we're already up to half a million. Maybe her asking price *is* a bit high.

However, considering inflation over the next 18 years and the fact that it would be ideal for her to stay at home with her child during his or her early years, which means she would forgo income, career advancement, retirements savings, and Social Security wages, to me asking for $1 million from a pro-life nation that values its children seems reasonable.

Can we promote depth psychology and the nurturing of the soul without economic security? We could try. But it's a tough sell to a single mom struggling to make ends meet. Why do we have this knee jerk reaction when someone dares to ask what security she'll have as she makes sacrifices to raise the next generation?
