I am looking for myths and stories that express the archetypal field of primal love, the deep movement of libido, the longing of the ego for the Self. In the opening of the Mathnavi Rumi refers to this as the longing of the reed, cut from it source, to return. The Sufis refer to the fundamental field of the universe, the unified field of physics, as Ishq, or love. In Buddhism this is the quality of boddhicitta, or the awakened heart. I love the story of the Rainmaker that Jung would often tell as a story for healing in our time. I am looking for a story or myth, accessible to westerners, that captures this quality of the instincts and libido moving into the heart center.
Thanks, Rod
