Harvest Celebration and Potluck Picnic
with Guest Speaker Stephen Gerringer of JCF
BEYOND THE HERO: THE GODDESS WITH NO FACE
Though best known for his popular explication of the Hero's Journey, Joseph Campbell determined this masculine heroic motif to be of relatively recent origin, dating only from the Bronze Age. Chronologically, the Mother Goddess precedes mythologies of the Hero, while Her Mysteries carry humanity beyond the Hero and into the future. Stephen Gerringer* will discuss the Goddess figurines of the paleolithic era, and highlight the practical role this mythological motif can play in our lives.
Our Master of Ceremonies is Rebecca Pottenger** who will lead the merriment!
