Event Description

Complimentary Teleseminar with Life Patterning Expert Dr. Michael Conforti and Olympic Coach Hank Lange

Elie Wiesel spoke of the hero as that truly unique person who cares more about the spiritual welfare of their community than for their own personal needs.

So how is it that despite the perennial wisdom on heroes taught to us by Wiesel, Joseph Campbell, Jung, and M. L.von Franz, that we persist in bestowing this mantle of importance on individuals unable to carry this archetypal pattern and mandate on their all too human shoulders?

Is the saga of Lance Armstrong yet another story of our need to both inflate and glorify values that in truth are far from heroic? When this happens, both the individual and the collective are left with disappointments, betrayals & loss of hope, leaving all involved in terribly compromised positions? In this two part series, we will look at the personal & archetypal factors driving Lance Armstrong's fall from grace, & the patterns which reveal the deeper story.

In Week 1, Dr Conforti will be joined by Hank Lange, a professional athlete who rode with Lance Armstrong and who now trains athletes from around the world, including many Olympians.

Week 2 will focus on the archetypal processes involved in Lance Armstrong's life, his request for forgiveness, our collective hunger for heroes and the symptoms and consequences when, as in all too many of our mythic tales, one aspires to be- like the Gods.

Hank Lange has been coaching endurance athletes to succeed in their quests over a career that spans four decades. His client list includes world class triathletes, master record-holders, and outdoor enthusiasts across the spectrum of endurance sports.Hank has coached an octogenarian through her first triathlon & guided a twenty-something to the Beijing Olympics.

Through his company, Personal Best, Hank guides athletes through challenging terrain as they seek a way through their hang-ups & bang-ups.As an athlete, Hank is familiar with both failure & success. As a resilient competitor, he has won championship titles in a variety of sports. As a roving adventurer, he has skied across Finland & pedaled cross continent with Lance Armstrong.

Michael Conforti, Ph.D. is a Jungian Analyst & the founder & director of the Assisi Institute based on the development of a new discipline, Archetypal Pattern Analysis. A pioneer in the field of matter-psyche studies, Dr. Conforti investigates the workings of archetypal fields and the relationship between Jungian psychology & the New Sciences. Dr. Conforti maintains a private practice in Vermont

Don't forget!--This final session is  tonight (Thurs, 2/7/8-9pm PT).

Last week, I with Olympic Coach Hank Lange, discussed evidence on how pervasive doping has become within the sport & how the culture encourages cheating in order to get ahead. We also examined pathological patterns in Lance's behavior. This week, we'll dig more into the hero archetype and the psychodynamics of inflation...
