“Fairy Tales are the purest and simplest expression of collective unconscious psychic processes.”  - Marie Louise von Franz

In this presentation we will look at two Grimm’s fairytales, Iron Hans and The Girl Without Hands, to explore how they express critical elements of the struggles of the modern psyche.  We will look in depth at the Wildman archetype and our lost connection to nature, as well as the unwitting betrayal of the feminine principle in life that is an ominous byproduct of so called modern civilization.

Steven Galipeau, M.A., M.Div. is a Jungian Analyst in private practice in Woodland Hills, California and President and Executive Director of Coldwater Counseling Center in Studio City, a Jungian oriented sliding scale nonprofit. Steve is the author of The Journey of Luke Skywalker: An Analysis of Modern Myth and Symbol as well as articles and reviews on a variety of topics related to Analytical Psychology.  He is a frequent lecturer at the C. G. Jung Institute of Los Angles and has been a guest speaker at the Orange County Jung Club several times in the past.

THE C.G. JUNG CLUB OF ORANGE COUNTY

The C.G. Jung Club of Orange County provides quality educational programs designed to promote the study and discussion of Jungian Psychology, also known as Depth Psychology.  The programs elaborate and amplify the ideas of C.G. Jung by exploring diverse perspectives of Jungian Psychology, as well as a wide range of subjects studied by Jung and his followers, such as mythology and comparative religion.  We seek to understand the human psyche through the psychological theories and therapeutic methods pioneered by C.G. Jung and the current use of Jungian concepts by contemporary Jungian analysts.
